Senior Dog Health Assessment
Last updated: June 2026
Please read these terms carefully before purchasing the Houndwise Senior Dog Health Assessment. They tell you who we are, what you're buying, how you can cancel, and what you can expect from us.
By placing an order, you confirm that you accept these terms and that you agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, please do not place an order.
1. Who we are
Houndwise is a service operated by Houndwise Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17206127). You can contact us at info@houndwise.co.uk.
2. What Houndwise is — and what it is not
Houndwise provides personalised health guidance for senior dogs aged 7 and over. You complete an online health assessment about your dog, and we produce a written Senior Health Plan based on your answers. Our content is built on templates and clinical guidance that have been reviewed by UK-registered veterinary surgeons.
Important: Houndwise is not a veterinary practice. We do not diagnose, treat, prescribe, or provide clinical care for any individual animal. Our service does not constitute the practice of veterinary surgery within the meaning of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. Nothing in your Senior Health Plan is a substitute for professional veterinary advice. If you have any concerns about your dog's health, you should always consult your vet.
Your Senior Health Plan is designed to complement your relationship with your vet — helping you notice changes, prepare for appointments, and understand what questions to ask. It is guidance, not a clinical opinion.
3. What you are buying
When you purchase the Houndwise Senior Dog Health Assessment, you are buying:
- access to our online health assessment questionnaire for one dog; and
- a personalised written Senior Health Plan produced from your answers, built on vet-reviewed clinical content.
The assessment and plan relate to one dog. If you would like a plan for a second dog, you will need to purchase a separate assessment.
We may from time to time offer additional products or subscription services. If we do, separate or updated terms will apply and will be made available to you before purchase.
4. Placing an order and payment
The price of the Senior Health Assessment is shown on our website at the time you place your order. All prices are inclusive of any applicable VAT.
Payment is taken at the point of purchase through our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full card details. By placing an order, you confirm that the payment details you provide are yours (or that you have authority to use them).
Your order is accepted and a binding contract is formed when we send you a confirmation email after receiving your payment. If we are unable to accept your order for any reason, we will notify you and refund you in full.
5. Completing the assessment
After purchasing, you will be asked to complete the online health assessment about your dog. Please answer honestly and as accurately as you can. The quality of your Senior Health Plan depends on the information you provide.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us. We are not able to verify clinical details independently, and your Senior Health Plan will reflect what you tell us. If anything changes significantly after you submit your assessment, please contact us.
6. Delivery of your Senior Health Plan
We aim to deliver your Senior Health Plan within 1 working day of receiving your completed assessment. We are committed to delivering it within 5 working days. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding English public holidays.
Your plan will be delivered to you digitally, via the email address you provide in the assessment.
If we have not delivered your plan within 10 working days of receiving your completed assessment, you are entitled to a full refund. See section 8.
In some cases — for example, where your dog's assessment raises clinical concerns that require additional review — delivery may take longer than 1 working day. If this happens, we will let you know.
7. Your right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day cooling-off period in which you can cancel your order for any reason.
Before your plan is delivered
If you cancel before we have delivered your Senior Health Plan, you will receive a full refund. To cancel, email us at info@houndwise.co.uk.
After your plan is delivered
Because the Senior Health Plan is personalised digital content generated specifically for you, we will ask you to consent to us beginning delivery before the end of the 14-day cooling-off period. By giving that consent, you acknowledge that you will lose your right to cancel once your plan has been delivered to you.
This is a legal requirement for digital content under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. It means that once you have received your personalised plan, it is non-refundable.
If you do not consent to early delivery, we will wait until the 14-day cooling-off period has expired before delivering your plan, and you will retain your right to cancel during that period. In practice, most customers consent to immediate delivery so they receive their plan promptly.
8. Refunds
You are entitled to a full refund in the following circumstances:
- you cancel before your Senior Health Plan has been delivered (see section 7);
- we have not delivered your plan within 10 working days of receiving your completed assessment; or
- we are unable to accept or fulfil your order for any reason.
Refunds will be processed to the original payment method and will typically appear within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank.
If you believe there is a significant error in your plan or that the service was not delivered as described, please contact us at info@houndwise.co.uk and we will do our best to resolve the issue.
9. Photos you upload
As part of the assessment, you may be asked to upload photos of your dog. These photos are used to support the production of your Senior Health Plan.
We may also ask for your separate permission to use photos of your dog in our marketing materials, website, or social media. This is entirely optional and will only happen with your explicit consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us at info@houndwise.co.uk. We will never use your photos for marketing purposes without first obtaining your permission.
10. Your data and privacy
We take your privacy seriously. Full details of how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data are set out in our Privacy Notice, available at houndwise.co.uk/privacy.
By placing an order you confirm that you have had the opportunity to read our Privacy Notice and understand how your data will be used.
Key points relevant to these terms:
- We process your personal data and your dog's assessment information to deliver the service you have purchased (lawful basis: performance of a contract).
- With your optional consent, we may use anonymised assessment data to improve our service and support research into senior dog health.
- With your optional consent, we may send you marketing communications. You can unsubscribe at any time.
11. Intellectual property
All content on the Houndwise website and in the Senior Health Plan — including text, design, graphics, templates, clinical frameworks, and branding — is owned by or licensed to Houndwise Ltd and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
Your Senior Health Plan is produced for your personal use in relation to your dog's care. You may share it with your vet or other people involved in your dog's care. You may not reproduce, resell, or distribute our content commercially.
12. Our responsibility to you
We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Our Senior Health Plans are produced using vet-reviewed clinical content and are based on the information you provide to us.
However, because we are not a veterinary practice and do not examine your dog:
- we cannot guarantee that the plan will identify every health concern or that its guidance will be appropriate for every situation;
- the plan is not a clinical assessment and should not be treated as one; and
- you should always follow your vet's advice where it differs from our general guidance.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant assessment. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss.
13. Your responsibilities
- You confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
- You confirm that the dog the assessment relates to is in your care, or that you have the authority of the person in whose care the dog is.
- You will provide accurate and honest information in the assessment. We rely on what you tell us and cannot independently verify it.
- You understand that the Senior Health Plan is guidance only and that you remain responsible for your dog's care, including seeking veterinary attention when needed.
14. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service, please contact us at info@houndwise.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and aim to resolve it promptly.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time you place your order is the version that applies to that purchase. We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. If we make significant changes, we will let you know.
16. General
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue to apply.
- These terms, together with our Privacy Notice and any order confirmation, make up the whole agreement between you and Houndwise in relation to the service.
- Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
